What We Do

Flagship Fundraising – Kiwanis Pancake House

Our Projects

Our club participates in a variety of projects throughout the year that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.

Below are the projects and activities in which we are currently involved:

  • Bike Repair
  • Scholarship Awards
  • Kids Against hunger
  • Pancake House
  • Tree Planting
  • Zoo Day
  • Gift Wrapping Wrapping Day
  • Salvation Army Bell Ringing
  • The Banquet

Additionally, we have speakers at our weekly meetings to explore topics of interest to the membership. We engage in a number of social activities to share experiences, talents and our collective interests. All represent great opportunities for service, friendships and personal growth.

Children’s Inn Bike Repair

Each spring, the Sioux Falls Kiwanis gives of our time to repair bikes at the Children’s Inn. The kids love to ride bike, and yearly maintenance is needed. The Kiwanis volunteers partner with a child, teaching and working side by side. From inflating tires, to tube replacement, from seat/handle bar adjustments to brakes – It is really our time and attention that the kids enjoy while we are there.

Scholarship Awards

Each year, the Sioux Falls Kiwanis accepts applications through the Sioux Falls Community Foundation. We utilize our fund to provide 3 to 5 $1,000 scholarships to recipients in our immediate area.

Kids Against Hunger

The Sioux Falls Kiwanis has partnered with Kids Against Hunger to package nourishing meals for kids in need. Typically, the food packaged is sent over seas.

Pancake House Sponsorships

Our Flagship fundraising efforts occur each summer during the Sioux Empire Fair. Kiwanis members reach out to community organizations to donate to our great mission of helping children leading up to the Fair. At the fair, we serve Pancakes and sausage links to all who enter the Pancake House. All proceeds also go towards helping children in our community.

Funds raised each year 100% support children within Sioux Falls through partnerships throughout the community.

Tree Planting

A newer service project, the Sioux Falls Kiwanis has started serving the community by planting trees for future generations to enjoy. This has been a great multi-generational service event, a great way to demonstrate to the younger generation ways to get involved and be active community members!

Children’s Inn Zoo day

Also a newer event, the Sioux Falls Kiwanis partners with Children’s Inn for their annual Zoo day. The Sioux Falls Kiwanis provides their needed volunteers and parental mentors to the kids as they enjoy the Great Plains Zoo!

Children’s Inn Gift Wrapping

Each year near Christmas, the Sioux Falls Kiwanis volunteers at the gift wrapping station at the Empire Mall. This is a fundraising event for the Children’s Inn. We provide volunteers and help spread some holiday cheer!

Salvation Army Bell Ringing

Each Christmas, the Sioux Falls Kiwanis provides volunteers to ring the bell for the Salvation Army. Battling the temperatures for a few hours to bring holiday cheer, and help bring attention to the red kettle is a small way we can serve our community during the Christmas season.

The Banquet

The Sioux Falls Kiwanis is proud to serve at the Banquet in Sioux Falls. The Banquet is a volunteer-based meal ministry providing food and fellowship to those it serves. This is another great multi-generational event that helps teach the importance of being active in the community for each generation.
